CWG 2002 – Greater Menchester with population of about 2.5 million!
CWG 2006 – Melbourne with population of about 3-5 million!
CWG 2010 – Delhi, with population of over 13.8 million!!


So this time it is much bigger, energetic and thrilling. This multi sport event held every 4 years involves the elite athletes of the Commonwealth of Nations. The first one of these was held in 1930, under the name ‘British Empire Games’. Later it was changed to ‘British Empire and Commonwealth Games’ in 1954; and to ‘British Commonwealth Games’ in 1978. Australia, Canada, England, New Zealand, Scotland and Wales are the only six teams that have attended every Commonwealth Game.

Delhi defeated the Canadian city of Hamilton by 26 votes in November 2003 at the CGF General Assembly and won the right ______continued.

Standing on the western end of the Gangetic Plain and bordered by the states of Uttar Pradesh and Haryana – Delhi will be hosting these Games from October 3 to 14, 2010. The Commonwealth Games Village is being constructed on a 40 acre site in the heart of the capital with a possible capacity for 8,500 athletes and officials.
